Pampanga’s Laus Group powers buildings with solar energy
MANILA, Philippines — The Laus Group of Companies (LGC) has tapped German-Filipino supplier Philergy to power up two owned buildings in Pampanga using solar energy.
In a statement, LGC said the activation of solar power systems in the main buildings of Carworld Inc. and Corporate Guarantee can independently produce about 50 kilowatt-peak of power, resulting in up to 50 percent savings on electric bills.
LGC said the solar power system is a way of “taking advantage” of the country’s tropical climate, while also contributing to efforts toward sustainability.
“We at the Laus Group of Companies are dedicated to advancing environmental sustainability. We are committed to transitioning to utilizing renewable energy sources wherever feasible,” LGC CEO and chairperson Lisset Laus-Velasco said.
She said the shift to solar energy is an essential step for the environment as this contributes to lower carbon emissions and conservation of natural resources.
Solar power is among the energy facilities under the Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) requirements of the Department of Energy (DOE).
Velasco said they are looking at installing more solar-powered systems in their businesses across Luzon.
“This is only the beginning. We will continue to find ways to operate our facilities wherever possible through alternative energy as well as projects that will help us become more responsible caretakers of this planet,” she said.
