Boycotters not loving it
Fervent advocates for a boycott against McDonald’s over Israel’s continued aggression against Gaza, are not happy at the return of Malay-Muslim customers to the fast food franchise.
In Kuantan, a group was caught on camera shouting insults at customers at a McDonald’s outlet last Friday.
A customer there was also threatened by boycotters, leading to five arrests.
Meanwhile, on social media, some have used AI image generators to create graphics depicting McDonald’s customers in traditional Malay outfits as pigs and dogs.
Religious figures have condemned the imagery as excessive and sinful.

Johor’s Allah word committee
Johor is forming a committee tasked with tackling the misuse of the word Allah.
Few details are currently available, but the committee will be chaired by the state’s excos for religious affairs and housing and local government.
This comes in the wake of several incidents involving the word Allah and religious imagery that have caused a stir among Muslims.
Meanwhile, the state is also proceeding with its probe on mats featuring the Kaaba, which were mislabeled as floor mats but were supposed to be prayer mats.
