MANILA, Philippines: San Miguel Beer continues its dominance in the PBA Philippine Cup after smashing NorthPort, 120-100 to inch closer to sealing one of the top 2 spots for the playoffs during their Sunday match at the Philsports Arena.
SMB stays perfect, hammers NorthPort
The Beermen improved to a tournament-best 7-0 record after picking a number of dominant performances from their veteran-laden roster.
CJ Perez led SMB’s superior firepower after finishing with 29 points.
Moala Tautuaa had 15, Marcio Lassiter added 14, while three other Beermen scored 10 or more.
The win was a good preparation for San Miguel, which will be facing its Commissioner’s Cup Finals victim Magnolia this Friday in a titanic matchup.
“We’ll treat Magnolia as a threat to us. For sure, they also have the twice-to-beat advantage in mind. But we just have to be prepared and do things that we have to do to beat a team like Magnolia. We’ll be prepared on Friday,” said San Miguel coach Jorge Gallent after the game.
The Batang Pier fell to seventh spots with their fourth straight defeat. NorthPort now carries 4-5 card overall.
