Shadow Home Affairs Minister James Paterson has slammed the Australians “substantially worse off” than during the Labor government, as the average Australian household is “$8,000 worse off” due to the cost of living crisis.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics announced yesterday that wages grew by 4.2 per cent during 2023 – the biggest wage rise since 2009.
“We had 4.2 per cent wages growth and 4.1 per cent inflation,” Mr Paterson told Sky News Australia.
“Actually, on this government, real wages have been going back for two years … they’ve presided over an even worse set of figures [than the previous government], and Australians are actually substantially worse off than two years ago when this government was elected.
