Las autoridades aéreas de Estados Unidos están investigando si Boeing completó las inspecciones requeridas a sus aviones 787, y si los empleados falsificaron registros de las aeronaves, dijeron funcionarios el lunes. La cuestión se centra en si Boeing no llevó a cabo las inspecciones necesarias para ‘confirmar la adecuada unión y conexión a tierra donde las alas se unen al fuselaje en ciertos aviones 787 Dreamliner’, explicó la Agencia estadounidense de Aviación Civil (FAA).

La agencia dijo que ‘al mismo tiempo, Boeing está reinspeccionando todos los aviones 787 que aún están dentro del sistema de producción y también debe crear un plan para abordar la flota en servicio’. El suceso no tardó en hacer efecto en las acciones de Boeing, que cayeron el lunes un 1.44% a 178,35 dólares. Cuando se le pidió un comentario, Boeing proporcionó un correo electrónico del 29 de abril de Scott Stocker, quien dirige el programa 787 de la compañía, a los empleados en Carolina del Sur, donde se ensambla la aeronave. En el correo electrónico, Stocker dijo que un empleado vio lo que parecía ser una irregularidad en una prueba de conformidad requerida por el 787. Stocker dijo en el correo electrónico que después de recibir el informe, ‘revisamos rápidamente el asunto y descubrimos que varias personas habían estado violando las políticas de la compañía al no realizar una prueba requerida, pero registrando el trabajo como ejecutado’. Stocker dijo que Boeing informó rápidamente a la FAA ‘sobre lo que descubrimos y que estamos tomando medidas correctivas rápidas y serias con varios’ empleados. Boeing dijo en abril que espera un aumento más lento en la tasa de producción y entregas de sus aviones de fuselaje ancho 787 Dreamliner debido a que ha encontrado dificultades por una escasez de proveedores ‘para algunas piezas clave’.
