Best MHA Mutant Quirks, Ranked
My Hero Academia is full of incredible superpowers. There is such a wide range of abilities, yet they fall into some more basic categories. One of the most interesting categories is Mutation Quirks. Mutations Quirks affect the user’s physiology in some way that doesn’t disappear when their Quirks are deactivated.
Mutation Quirks manifest in many different ways, though the most common involves animal characteristics. Yet, animal Quirks aren’t the only abilities under the Mutation umbrella. Anything that involves the body being mutated in some way qualifies as a Mutation Quirk. There are many characters with Mutation Quirks in My Hero Academia, but these are some of the best.

MHA has become a staple in shonen anime and while it is a great series, each season brings new challenges & twists that are special in their own way.
Tohru Hagakure’s Invisibility Is Great For Covert Missions
Close
Tohru Hagakure is a character who is easy to forget in My Hero Academia. However, that isn’t due to her personality, but her Quirk. Hagakure’s Quirk, Invisibility, allows her to remain unseen. Anime fans have yet to even see her physical appearance at all, although she has been revealed in the manga.
Hagakure’s Hero Costume is the cause of a lot of controversy, but there’s no denying that her abilities are invaluable. Invisibility may not be practical in a fight, but it allows her to sneak up on her enemies. She can also surreptitiously gather intel without anyone knowing.

My Hero Academia Releases Emotional Live-Action Film for 10th Anniversary
As My Hero Academia nears its end, a live-action short film inspired by the Shonen Jump series has been released for its 10th anniversary.
Gang Orca is an often misunderstood Pro Hero. This is due to his Orcinus Quirk. Although others with animal Quirks retain their human faces, Gang Orca instead has the visage of an orca. This makes many feel intimidated by him, when he’s a kind, understanding person at heart.
Gang Orca isn’t seen using his Quirk against villains, but it does come out when he pretends to be an enemy for the students during the Provisional Licensing Exam. Fans can see the enormous power that his Orcinus Quirk holds – clearing out any doubts as to why he is one of the top Pro Heroes.
Ibara Shiozaki’s Vines Are Powerful
Ibara Shiozaki is a student in Class 1-B at U.A. Her Quirk is called Vines. Her mutation includes hair made from vines that she can control to either attack or contain her enemies. Shiozaki can also detach parts of her hair. These separated parts eventually grow back, assuming she is properly hydrated and gets sunlight.
Shiozaki proves her Quirk is one of the best in the U.A. Sports Festival when she becomes one of the top ten first years. She is also considered one of the brighter students in her class. Yet, it’s her Vines Quirk that makes her such an impressive character. Shiozaki is a bit of a pacifist, but she isn’t above using the full might of her vines when danger calls.
Hanta Sero Uses His Tape In Different Ways
Hanta Sero’s Quirk comes from a mutation in his arms. Sero’s Quirk, Tape, gives him the ability to shoot tape from his elbows. He uses them to immobilize his opponents or as “ropes” to swing from. Many comparisons have been made between him and a famous American Marvel superhero.
Sero is one of the more underrated heroes in My Hero Academia. He’s become very proficient with his power, and it shows in the most recent episodes of the anime. Fans can only hope that Sero and his Tape Quirk will be featured more heavily in seasons to come.

Netflix’s My Hero Academia Live-Action Movie Should Focus on This Story Arc
My Hero Academia is the next live-action anime adaptation for Netflix, but only one MHA arc could conceivably be told within a movie’s runtime.
Gran Torino is a retired Pro Hero, yet he still fights as well as he did in his heyday. His Jet Quirk gives him the power to shoot around like a rocket at breakneck speeds. He may appear elderly, but he’s still spry enough to continue fighting against All For One’s minions.
Gran Torino has been a hero for a long time and uses his knowledge and perfected Quirk to his advantage. He utilizes Jet to teach Izuku Midoriya, as well as to dispatch enemies. Gran Torino’s Jet proves that a powerful Mutation Quirk can go a long way to staying in the Hero world.
Mirko Makes Her Rabbit Quirk All Her Own
Mirko is one of the most fierce Pro Heroes, which seems counter to her Rabbit Quirk. Mirko’s Quirk gives her many of the same characteristics of a rabbit. This includes powerful leg muscles, large feet to help her run, and long ears for better hearing.
Mirko has perfected her Quirk so much that she is one of the most celebrated Pro Heroes. Rabbits are typically known for fleeing when provoked, but Mirko never backs down from a challenge. Mirko was born for her Rabbit Quirk, with a seemingly never-ending energy and a thirst for justice.
Tsuyu Asui Is Indistinguishable From Her Quirk
Tsuyu Asui is one of the most liked characters in My Hero Academia. This is, in large part, due to her Quirk: Frog. Asui’s Quirk gives her many of the same characteristics as a frog. Asui can stay underwater for long periods of time and climb on walls. She also has a long, elastic tongue, and she can regurgitate her stomach to clean it. One of the most fascinating aspects of Asui’s Quirk is that she can secrete several different types of mucus that have varying effects on her opponents.
Asui meshes so well with her Quirk that fans can’t imagine her having another power. Asui is so in sync with her Quirk the she and Ochaco Uraraka have paired up at times to form a combined ultimate move: Meteor Fafrotskies. This ultimate move works using Uraraka’s Quirk to float things and Asui’s tongue to hurtle them at enemies. Everything that Asui does, from the way she speaks, how she walks, and even her green hair helps to make her a memorable character.
Manga Fukidashi’s Comic Comes To Life
Manga Fukidashi’s Quirk is Comic. Comic transforms any onomatopoeia that he says into that sound’s physical embodiment. If he mimics a punching sound, a punch comes out. If he mimics a horn, a horn honks. The downside of this Quirk is that Fukidashi can get a sore throat if he overuses it. Therefore, he has to be strategic about using it in battle.
Fukidashi’s Mutation makes his head look like a comic or manga panel. This alludes to his Comic Quirk since onomatopoetic words are often found in things like graphic novels, comics, or manga. Fukidashi’s Quirk is one of the stranger My Hero Academia Quirks, but it’s also one of the most creative superpowers. Class 1-B wouldn’t be the same without Fukidashi and his incredible ability.

REVIEW: My Hero Academia Chapter 421 Class 1-A Returns in an Underwhelming Start to the Final Stretch
Class 1-A Returns to support Deku in My Hero Academia 421, sidelining the original successor of the Symbol of Peace to uphold the banner themselves.
Kyoka Jiro’s Quirk is Earphone Jack. This Quirk causes the lower lobes of her ears to droop down like corded headphones. Each of the lobes ends in a jack (or connector) that she can plug into walls or the ground to hear far-off sounds. This helps her get a better feeling of where her enemies, or citizens in peril, are.
Earphone Jack can also be used for attacking. If Jiro plugs her ear lobes into a solid surface, she can amplify the sound of her heart to cause a sonic attack. Jiro’s Quirk is great for reconnaissance, offense, and defense, which makes Earphone Jack a valuable Quirk for the Heroes.
Hawks’s Fierce Wings Is The Most Versatile
Close
Hawks Fierce Wings Quirk is multifaceted. Not only can he fly using his wings, but he can also manipulate his feathers to do reconnaissance and help rescue civilians. Hawks can also use them as sharp weapons. This is what makes him the Number 2 Pro Hero.
Hawks has been trained to be a government Hero since he was a child. This has manifested in Hawks becoming quite proficient at using his Quirk. Fierce Wings is unlike any other mutation Quirk since it’s one of the most versatile. While it doesn’t appear impressive at first, Fierce Wings is truly a force to be reckoned with.
