Belgium and the Netherlands are the latest countries to call for puberty blocker restrictions after the release of the UK’s Cass Review.
Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi says the Cass Review exposed the “astonishing” lack of research into the long-term effects of puberty blockers on children.
“But here in Australia there’s simply no appetite to even review the practice let alone ban it.
“With Health Minister Mark Butler insisting while the Cass report findings were significant, our transgender pathways were different.
“Really? If anything, new laws introduced in New South Wales and Victoria around so-called anti-conversion therapies mean once children self-identify there’s very little anyone can do to stop them getting medical interventions.”
