Orlando Pirates coach the next Ruud Krol?
Former Orlando Pirates captain Oupa Manyisa has spotted big similarities between Ruud Krol and Jose Riveiro.
JOSE RIVEIRO TO WIN THE DSTV PREMIERSHIP NEXT SEASON?
The legendary Krol lifted three trophies, including the league title, during his third season with the Orlando Pirates. With Riveiro set to enter his third term next season, Manyisa believes the Spaniard can write a similar history for the Buccaneers.
“Personally… I think he can, he just needs more time, we know Pirates supporters don’t have patience, if they can give him time, he will do wonders, you can see it,” Manyisa said on the Bettor Podcast, as per iDiskiTimes.
“He’s won three trophies, now is the time he must challenge for the league [against Sundowns].
“We [Orlando Pirates] were also knocked out by a Botswanan team [in the CAF Champions League] it was Gaborone United, we played in PE and then [in 2013], we were in the final,” Manyisa added.
“In football such happens, it’s how you pick yourself up, dust yourself and move,” the former Orlando Pirates skipper concluded.
HOW SIPHELELE MTHEMBU WAS FORCED TO JOIN ORLANDO PIRATES
Remember Siphelele Mthembu at Kaizer Chiefs? Here he is, recalling his controversial move to rivals Orlando Pirates.
While playing for Maritzburg City in the lower National First Division, Mthembu joined Kaizer Chiefs but had no idea what was about to happen next. Orlando Pirates suddenly claimed that the bulky striker from Melmoth, KwaZulu-Natal, belonged to the Sea Robbers.
“I was scouted by [Kaizer] Chiefs, I trained with them and everything was signed,” Mthembu told FARPost‘s Sinethemba Sithole. “My late boss Bongi Hlophe, may his soul rest in peace, I think he had a relationship with Pirates…
“Then after that, I was in camp with Chiefs in Cape Town and I heard that I had signed with Pirates. So, I didn’t understand because Bobby [Motaung] said, ‘Relax we will sort it out’.
“Ever since then, that’s what happened. All I know is that I signed with Chiefs and I don’t remember signing a contract with Pirates.
“I wanted to be with [Kaizer] Chiefs because when I was young I loved the club and my family as well [supported the club]. And when I got there, I was convinced that wouldn’t be my end, I thought I would have an opportunity to go overseas.”
Despite his desperation to play for Kaizer Chiefs, Mthembu was forced to join [Orlando] Pirates against his wishes. – READ THE FULL STORY HERE.
