Bad Boys, Ride or Die: Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are on the run as the comedy-thriller returns

Get ready for more outrageous combat scenes, more ridiculously overblown shoot outs, yet more hilarious dialogue, and another batch of fantastic tunes, because the Bad Boys – aka. Will Smith’s Detective Lieutenant Mike and Martin Lawrence’s Detective Lieutenant Marcus – are back for a new instalment of drama.

Bad Boys, Ride or Die, the fourth film of the action comedy franchise, will be landing in cinemas on June 7, and now the trailer has just been released.

Introduced by the actors – Will Smith says “it’s hot” – the trailer is three minutes of back-to-back, full on spectacle, and comes packed with explosions, club scenes, car chases, helicopter rides, fist pumping, fire balls, gunfights, shouting, slow motion dives and hand to hand combat.

It’s been four years since the last film in the series, Bad Boys for Life, was released, but The Boys are not making a quiet return. This time, though, things are a little different: their boss, Captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano) has been dramatically framed and the pair must go about proving his innocence – all the while being chased down by both the Feds and by Miami’s most dangerous criminals.

“If you’re seeing this I’m probably dead,” says Howard in a clip anonymously sent to Marcus’ phone. “F**k, f**kers, f**k em’ all. I don’t know how high up this sh*t goes, but don’t trust anybody. You’re my bad boys… now clear my name.”

The fictional police duo have seen their fair share of action over the last 30 years of heading up Miami’s narcotics division – the first Bad Boys film was released in 1995, quickly became a classic of the genre, thanks to its winning comedy-action formula.

There was a 17 year gap between parts two and three, so fans were utterly thrilled to see the police detectives reunite for 2020’s Bad Boys For Life. The film smashed the box office, bringing in a whopping $426 million worldwide – $153 million more than the previous film. It’s a stellar feat, even with inflation taken into consideration.

Now, Smith, 55, and Lawrence, 58, are back for more relentless action, joined once more by part three stars Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games) and Mexican actor Paola Núñez. There are also some newcomers: Tiffany Haddish, Melanie Liburd (This Is Us), Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy) and Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four).

“All these years later, and Will and Martin still make me laugh with their chemistry! Can’t wait to see it!” said one fan under the trailer. “This movie is definitely going to be a masterpiece like Bad Boys 1, 2 and 3,” said another.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die will be released on June 7
