Australians believe there is ‘too much risk’ associated with nuclear: Redbridge Group Director
Redbridge Group Director Kos Samaras says polling suggests Australia believe there is “too much risk” associated with nuclear and it is “expensive”.
Polling has been conducted on the Coalition’s nuclear policy by Redbridge Group.
Mr Samaras said the polling was conducted in the East Victorian federal seat of Gippsland.
“Surprisingly, they knew quite a lot about the risks associated with nuclear power plants,” Mr Samaras told Sky News Australia.
“The older participants … obviously have a lived memory of Chernobyl, or younger participants have watched on their TVs what occurred in Japan during the tsunami and the earthquake in 2011.
“Overwhelmingly, most people were of the view that there is too much risk associated with it, that it’s expensive, and those with children indicated strongly in these focus groups that if one was to be built in the area, they will leave the area.”
