Asylbewerber bekommt Startgeld, damit er das Land wieder verlässt

3400 Franken hat ein abgewiesener Mann erhalten, nachdem er mit einem Linienflug aus Grossbritannien in Ruanda gelandet ist.

Bereits vor der Umsetzung des umstrittenen Plans für Massenabschiebungen nach Ruanda hat Grossbritannien einen abgelehnten Asylbewerber gegen die Zahlung von Tausenden Pfund zur freiwilligen Ausreise in das ostafrikanische Land bewegt. Wie die Zeitung «Sun» am Dienstagabend berichtete, reiste der aus einem ungenannten afrikanischen Staat stammende Mann am Montag per Linienflug nach Ruanda. Dort habe er umgerechnet rund 3400 Franken als Startgeld aus der britischen Staatskasse erhalten. Dem Sender Sky News wurde der Bericht aus Regierungskreisen bestätigt.

Die Aktion ist nicht Teil des viel kritisierten Plans der konservativen Regierung, irregulär eingereiste Asylbewerber ungeachtet ihrer Herkunft zu Tausenden nach Ruanda abzuschieben. Die «Sun» sprach dennoch von einem historischen Moment, der zeige, dass es möglich sei, Asylsuchende in einen Drittstaat abzuschieben. Dagegen kritisierte die oppositionelle Labour-Partei, es handele sich um eine PR-Aktion im Wahlkampf.

Abschiebeflüge sollen bald beginnen

«Die Tories sind so verzweifelt, irgendeinen Flug vor den Kommunalwahlen nach Ruanda zu schicken, dass sie nun jemanden bezahlt haben, um dorthin zu fliegen», sagte die innenpolitische Labour-Sprecherin Yvette Cooper. Bei den Kommunalwahlen in England an diesem Donnerstag droht der Konservativen Partei von Premierminister Rishi Sunak eine herbe Pleite.

Kritiker sehen im Abschiebungsplan der Regierung einen Bruch internationaler Regeln. Die Abschiebeflüge nach Ruanda sollen in einigen Wochen beginnen. Allerdings kennen die Behörden die Aufenthaltsorte von mehr als der 3500 der zunächst für eine Abschiebung vorgesehenen 5700 Menschen nicht, wie die Zeitung «Times» berichtete.
