As NEET ‘paper leak’ allegations swirl, Patna police arrest 13, including 4 who took test
Police in Patna have arrested 13 people over the last two days in connection with allegations of a paper leak in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) conducted on May 5.
While those arrested, including four who took the national-level medical entrance exams, were booked under IPC sections dealing with breach of trust and conspiracy, police said the paper leak was not yet confirmed and that their investigation was underway.
Apart from the four who took the exam, the arrested were three question paper setters, two associates of theirs, the fathers of two examinees, the mother of an examinee, and a driver.
“Whether there was a paper leak or not is a very sensitive matter. As of now, it will not be fair to conclude that there was a paper leak as it is a question of the future of over 24 lakh people. We are investigating the case as there has been suspicion,” said Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mishra.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi commented on the issue, saying in a post on X: “News of NEET paper leak amounts to betrayal of the dreams of over 23 lakh candidates and their families. The youth have now realised the worthlessness of the BJP government of 10 years, and know that there is a difference between running a government and making verbal promises…”
He assured that a law against paper leaks would be brought if the Opposition INDIA bloc was voted to power in the ongoing general elections.
