Poland scrambles its fighter jets because of Russian missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine, informs the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command.

“Last night, intense activity of Russian long-range aviation was observed, involving missile strikes on targets located on the territory of Ukraine,” the statement said.

It was noted that all necessary procedures to ensure the safety of Polish airspace were activated.

At 8:00 a.m. Kyiv time, Poland reported that the flights had ceased.

“Due to the reduction of the threat level, regular air operations in the airspace of Poland were suspended, and the deployed forces and means returned to standard operational activities,” the statement said.

The command noted that the Polish army is constantly monitoring the situation on Ukrainian territory and remains in constant readiness to ensure the security of Polish airspace.

Attack on Dnipro on April 19

On the night of April 19, Russia carried out another act of aggression against Ukraine, using a combined air attack. The first stage of the attack was the launch of several groups of Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles, also known as Iranian kamikazes. These drones, packed with explosives, fly to the target and self-destruct when they strike.

Then more long-range weapons – missiles – were used. The nature and number of missiles launched, as well as the targets of the attack, have not yet been reported.

The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces repelled the drone attack. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, 9 enemy UAVs were shot down.

The enemy’s air strike on Dnipro caused significant damage to a residential building. The five-story building caught fire, and rescuers had to extinguish the fire.

According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, Serhii Lysak, in addition to the residential building, two other infrastructure facilities were also damaged.

Preliminary, there are 2 dead and 15 injured. The injured were taken to the hospital. Their condition is assessed as moderate.
