The Bureau of Immigration on Wednesday said it prevented two registered sex offenders from entering the country over the past week.

According to a statement from the BI, 60-year-old Peter Joseph Cahill arrived at the Clark International Airport (CIA) from Taipei on February 21.

Records show that In 2015, Cahill was convicted by a US Court for possessing and controlling obscene, sexually explicit material depicting a minor.”

Days later on Feb. 26, 30-year-old Ryan Lindley was blocked at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 after disembarking from a flight from Guam.

Data from the BI’s Border Control and iItelligence Unit (BCIU) showed that Lindley was convicted of two counts of indecent behavior with a 15-year-old in November 2021.

BI commissioner Norman Tansingco said that both passengers, being registered sex offenders involved in moral turpitude, were forbidden to enter the country as per the Philippine Immigration Act.

“They were also banned from entering the Philippines as a consequence of their inclusion in our immigration blacklist of undesirable aliens,” said Tansingco.

The two American nationals were immediately boarded back to the next available flight to their originating countries.—RF, GMA Integrated News
