Congress reacts to Nakul Nath’s Chindwara candidature amid Kamal Nath’s BJP switch rumours

The Congress has endorsed former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath’s son Nakul Nath’s candidature from Chindwara. Congress general secretary Jitendra Singh, who is in Madhya Pradesh amid buzz over Kamal Nath’s likely BJP switch, said, “He is a strong candidate from there (Chhindwara) and will definitely contest the elections.”

He also dismissed rumours of Kamal Nath’s BJP move, saying it was spread by the the saffron party.

“There is nothing like this. All these rumours (of Kamal Nath leaving Congress) have been spread by the BJP. He is our senior leader and he will attend the meeting today regarding the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,” he added.

Last week, Nakul Nath reportedly removed Congress from his ‘X’ bio and there was a strong buzz that Kamal Nath could join the BJP. He also announced to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Chindwara but there was no official confirmation in this regard from the Congress leadership.

The father-son duo, according to reports, is angry with the party leadership after Kamal Nath was blamed for the dismal performance in the last year’s Assembly elections. He was also replaced as the state Congress chief by Jitu Patwari.

Earlier today, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has said that Kamal Nath will remain in the Congress.

“Kamal Nath is, was, and will remain in the Indian National Congress. Modigodimedia should stop spreading lies,” Singh said in a post on ‘X’.

Meanwhile, Kamal Nath has also played down the rumours of his exit from the Congress party, saying he will inform the media if anything like this happens.

“Why are you all getting excited? It is not about denying. I will inform you all if there is something like that,” said Kamal Nath on Saturday, while speaking to the media.
