The North Atlantic Alliance has no plans to deploy combat troops to Ukraine amidst reports of some Western countries considering the possibility of sending their troops, according to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

“NATO allies are providing unprecedented support to Ukraine. We have done that since 2014 and stepped up after the full-scale invasion. But there are no plans for NATO combat troops on the ground in Ukraine,” he said.

Idea of sending NATO troops to Ukraine

A meeting of European leaders, initiated by French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss further support for Ukraine, took place in Paris.

Following the meeting, Macron did not rule out NATO deploying troops to assist Ukraine, but there is currently no consensus on this issue.

Additionally, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal did not rule out the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine.

Furthermore, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson deemed the question of deploying alliance troops to Ukraine irrelevant.
