Left untreated, ovarian cancer can spread to other parts of the body. There are 3 types of ovarian cancer. The most common type of ovarian cancer is epithelial ovarian cancer. Epithelial cells form the outer covering of the ovary and this is where the cancer starts.

Like many cancers Ovarian cancer can also spread to many other organs if left untreated. It can lead to multi organ involvement with disseminated carcinomatosis. It can lead to infection and pulmonary embolus too. Life expectancy in untreated ovarian cancer is less than a year.
