already out of it all, nxled continues pvl fight with passion

The one thing that Nxled hasn’t lost in a Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference where it didn’t win much is its passion to be better in the game.

And the Chameleons showed exactly that as they avoided a disaster in the final set of a 25-13, 25-23, 25-22 rout of also-ran Capital 1 on Tuesday.

“What we showed in the last set is our heart,” Ivy Lacsina said in Filipino after a solid performance in that set to help Nxled climb out of a nine-point hole the team itself dug up with its errors.

“Every team experiences its lowest point so during that time when we were down by a lot, we relied on each other to continue playing and show our hearts in the game,” Lacsina said.

Lacsina took her act to Nxled in its second conference here after the disbandment of F2 Logistics last year—and she has no regrets so far joining the Chameleons who have welcomed her with open arms.

“The transition was hard at first since Nxled has a different culture and system but the good thing is that the Chameleons did not give me a hard time during that phase,” Lacsina said.

“When I was joining them, I felt like I was with them for a long time already,” she added.

The former National University standout dropped 12 points, 11 coming from attacks, including crucial points in the final frame to help the Chameleons redeem themselves from a straight-sets beatdown handed by defending champion Creamline previously.

A-gameAlso a factor was Cams Victoria, who showed her A-game in bailing out Nxled.

“I set a goal for myself that in every game I must contribute for the team and give the opponent a good fight,” Victoria said after her crucial points in a 10-1 run by the Chameleons in the decider.“Whatever role coach Taka [Minowa] gives to me, I will do it and with his full trust I did what he wanted me to do,” she added after finishing 17 points from 14 attacks and three blocks.

“In that third set, that’s where you can see that every team is fighting and like what Ivy said, we were able to come back because we were courageous,” Victoria said. “Our heart gave us the edge.”

Matching its four wins like in its debut conference last year, Nxled hopes to be even better this time. But it won’t be easy; the chameleons wrap up their campaign opposite current top seed and semis bound Petro Gazz on Saturday. INQ
