Patio’s, barbecues, backyard fires, you name it. Calgarians were doing it this past weekend as an extended stretch of double digit temperatures had it seeming like summer had arrived here in Alberta, but sadly, Tuesday morning showing us it is still April. Spring is here, summer is not. This scooter here beside me, a bit of a symbol of that change, ready to roll but covered in snow. Calgarians waking up Tuesday morning to a round of thick, heavy, wet snow falling. All across their city, the type of snow that sticks to the windshield sticks to the mirrors. Comes to how was impacting the morning commute here in Calgary. We saw traffic moving pretty smoothly with most of that snow melting upon impact. But when you get a little West of the city, according to Alberta 511, you start to see that some of those roads, including Highway one, are at least partially covered in snow and ice. So again, as this snow falls in the city, your commute might not be as icy, but certainly room for that to change here as snow and slush builds up. And you’ll definitely want to give yourself a bit more time to reach your destination if you are heading West of the city. But as I mentioned. The snow not really sticking to Calgary roadways we’ve yet to see and likely won’t see the City of Calgary announce any bus route detours or snow route declarations today as the snow not likely to stick around for too long, but certainly a reminder that it is still spring in Alberta. It is still April in Alberta, and prime scooter season hasn’t begun quite yet.
