Albanese govt needs to show ‘more leadership’ over rising anti-Semitism at universities
The Albanese government “absolutely has to provide some more leadership” concerning the rise of anti-Semitism at universities, says Liberal Senator Claire Chandler.
Her remarks follow the recent pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University in the US.
“I’m very grateful we haven’t seen scenes precisely like that here in Australia,” she told Sky News host Rowan Dean.
“But I also think that there’s an argument that it could potentially only be a matter of time before we do if the government does not make a very clear stance.
“We need to make sure these protests are happening that they are lawful, that they are not violent and that they’re not making these sort of really anti-Semitic, horrific comments towards the Jewish community here in Australia.”
