New Brunswick’s newest provincial park is officially open
Most New Brunswickers are familiar with the Fundy Trail Parkway. The scenic drive between Saint Martins and Alma connects the two villages and offers sweeping views of the rugged Fundy Coast. But now it's being rebranded as New Brunswick's newest provincial park. The Funding Trail. Provincial Park has always been a provincial park that the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture has had the authority over in recent years. For the past 30 years, it has been operated under an agreement with the Bunny Trail Development Authority. Their responsibility was for the development of the trail and now that the development is finally completed and it's a spectacular, you know, work that they have done in view. It was felt by that group that it was time now to transfer it back over to the province to to operate as a provincial park along with all of our other provincial parks. The park used to be run by a non profit, but after extensive upgrades in recent years it was handed over to the province in December. Park officials say visitors are still going to have a similar experience this year. We've noticed a couple of changes in the in the roadways and that sort of thing have been improved. So you know I mean I think it should be a good thing. Local businesses here in Saint Martins are excited for the new ownership and are looking forward to any opportunity to promote tourism to the area. Really, really excited. In the, in the past the park was run by a board and some really, really passionate people and I think now they're going to get even more support. The people that are working there, I think it's going to be more in the public view. I think it's going to be really great for this part of New Brunswick.
