Ibstock country mansion with 'superb potential' to go under the hammer this week

A “country mansion” near Coalville with a grand hallway and acres of land is going under the hammer this week. Auctioneers say the property has “great potential” ahead of any regeneration.

Highfield House, which is in Ibstock’s Station Road, near Coalville, is one of a number of properties being sold as part of SDL Property Auctions’ latest sale this week. The grand six-bedroom home is described by auctioneers as a “large country mansion” and one that boasts great renovation potential.

The auction includes the grand home as well as all 2.6 acres of land around it. Would-be buyers could even expand on the accommodation needs as SDL say a workshop on site had planning permission for residential conversion, but this permission has now lapsed.

Alongside the workshop on site as well as the main home, the Highfield House development comes with a driveway and parking areas as well as a wooded area to the front. There are also gardens on three aspects around the home.

Inside, SDL Property Auctions says the home boasts a “grand hallway” as well as four to five reception rooms and six bedrooms. There are also two bathrooms and a cellar across two floors. The auctioneers do not hide away from the work needed across the property, saying the whole site “requires full upgrading”, but do say that if this is done, it has “superb potential”.

Subject to these changes, SDL Property Auctions say the property would make a “superb family home”. They say it even has “potential for commercial uses”, but makes clear this would need relevant planning permission.

The asking price for Highfield House has been revealed ahead of its auction, with a guide price of £750,000 + fees set. The property will go under the hammer at 10am on Thursday, February 29. More information can be found on the SDL Property Auctions website.
