A potential Lakers head-coaching candidate is off the market
Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd.
The Los Angeles Lakers are in the market for a new head coach, and you can cross one potential candidate off the list.
The Dallas Mavericks announced on Monday that they have signed head coach Jason Kidd to a multi-year contract extension.
Kidd is in his third season as the Mavericks’ head coach. The team has won at least 50 games in two of his three seasons and reached the Western Conference finals in his first season on the job. But his job status was considered shaky after the team failed to make the top 10 teams in the West last season.
Kidd’s name had been linked to the Lakers opening by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
Kidd being signed to an extension by the Mavs means he won’t be a candidate for the Lakers.
The Lakers announced the firing of Darvin Ham on Friday. Thus far, we haven’t heard anything about interviews they have set up for the vacancy.
