Since its introduction in 1985, the Light Duty model, known as “Prado” in some regions, has undergone significant evolution. However, the 2024 250 series marks a deliberate return to the Land Cruiser’s roots, emphasizing practicality and affordability.

“We resolved that going back to our roots would be core to the Land Cruiser brand going forward,” Toyota chief engineer Keita Moritsu explained.

The result is an authentic off-roader boasting robust performance, supported by a new GA-F platform and frame, functionality for passengers and cargo, enhanced driver visibility, and ease of maintenance.

The Land Cruiser’s legacy traces back to its inception as the “Toyota BJ” in 1951, famously conquering Mount Fuji. Over the years, Toyota’s mission has remained firm, which is to provide a vehicle that ensures safety and security, regardless of the terrain. With over 11.3 million sales across 170 countries and regions, the Land Cruiser continues to be a global bestseller.

Design

The design philosophy of the new Land Cruiser blends heritage with modernity, reflecting its status as a robust off-roader. Its silhouette pays homage to early Land Cruiser models, incorporating classic elements like the long bonnet, upright windscreen, and distinctive wheel arches. The frontal design features the iconic Toyota emblem, exuding a sense of purpose and functionality.

Interior innovation

Inside, the Land Cruiser offers a blend of functionality and high-quality design. The instrument panel boasts a digital display for easy readability, complemented by the latest Toyota multimedia package featuring cloud-based navigation and voice command control. Seating for up to seven passengers ensures comfort, with options for genuine and synthetic leather upholstery.

Powertrain and performance

Equipped with a reengineered 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Land Cruiser delivers robust performance and fuel efficiency. A 48-volt mild hybrid electric model is slated for release in 2025, enhancing drivability and responsiveness.

On and off-road mastery

The Land Cruiser’s capabilities extend beyond the asphalt, thanks to its new GA-F platform and frame. Featuring permanent all-wheel drive and innovative technologies like the Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism and Multi-Terrain Select, it ensures unparalleled stability and control on any terrain. It also has comprehensive safety features, including Toyota Safety Sense, providing peace of mind for both on and off-road adventures.

Quietness, comfort and safety

Extensive noise and vibration countermeasures ensure a serene cabin environment, complemented by advanced safety features like Lane Tracing Assist and Emergency Steering Assist. The Land Cruiser prioritizes passenger comfort and safety without compromising its legendary off-road prowess.

The all-new Toyota Land Cruiser 250 stands as a modern icon, honoring its rich heritage while embracing the latest advancements in automotive technology. As it continues to set new standards in reliability, durability and performance, it remains true to its roots as a vehicle that can take you anywhere and everywhere, ensuring your safe return, no matter the journey.
