When does ‘9-1-1’ return? The ABC drama is on pause for two weeks from airing new episodes of season 7. If you’re curious to learn why, keep on reading.
It’s been almost two months since 9-1-1 season 7 began airing on ABC, and fans have been in for quite a ride!
Between epic emergencies on a cruise ship and at the Bachelor mansion, the firefighters at the 118 have been going through their own personal life changes. As Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) prepares to marry her longtime love Chimney (Kenneth Choi), her brother Buck (Oliver Stark) is finding his own new approach to romance. And this is all happening while the group continues to save lives week after week, leaving viewers on alert for what’s to come down the road this season.
We know it’s a lot to process, and we all want to see the members of the 118 be their heroic selves. Good things come to those who wait, but folks may be surprised to learn 9-1-1 will not air a new episode tonight, Thursday, April 25.
When is 9-1-1 returning with new episodes?
Viewers will want to mark their calendars, as 9-1-1 will return with a new episode on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET.
As for the reason behind the unexpected switch-up, well, football fans will be thrilled to learn this piece of information. The beginning of the 2024 NFL draft will air on ABC during the time slot that 9-1-1 usually premieres, meaning the network’s regularly scheduled programming will have to wait one week.
What’s more, the NFL confirmed the scheduling change with a post on Instagram on April 25. “IT’S DRAFT DAY 🗣️,” read the official caption. “📺: 2024 #NFLDraft – Starts tonight at 8pm ET on NFL Network/ESPN/ABC.📱: Also streaming on #NFLPlus.”
If that wasn’t enough, 9-1-1 actually shared the switch-up in episode airings with their fans a few weeks before the NFL draft. Posting a photo on Instagram on April 3, the show’s official social team warned fans not to expect new episodes to drop the last two Thursdays of the month.
“Already crying thinking about 4/18 and 4/25 but don’t worry, we’ll keep you fed on our socials 😉,” the caption read. “Save this post so you know when to watch new episodes of #911onABC this month!”
As for what’s to come on 9-1-1, fans could expect a lot of drama in the next episode. Titled “There Goes the Groom,” an official press release shared the installment will follow Maddie and Chimney’s wedding day. When Chimney suddenly goes missing, it’s up to the 118 to find him and get him back in time to say his vows and wed his bride.
Looks like we’re in for an adventure come May 2!
