8 Fits We’re Copying From kumu Streamer Sheillyn Cheng
There’s someone we’d like you to meet: future fashion entrepreneur and restaurateur Sheillyn Cheng. Right now she’s taking up interdisciplinary business studies at De La Salle University.
Between juggling academics and modeling gigs, Sheillyn is also growing her social following on multiple platforms. For one, she already has a million followers on Instagram (@sheillyncheng), where it’s easy to see what she’s into: fashion, photography, makeup, and food, to name some. And, oh, she sings too.
Sheillyn also finds time to live-stream on kumu, the largest social media entertainment app in the Philippines. Last year, she topped the leaderboard of the “Candy Star Streamer” campaign on kumu, besting 418 other streamers who joined the challenge.
They say dress for the job you want, and if that job is all about winning, then you’d better take some notes from Sheillyn. “My fashion style is really flexible,” she says. “There are days [when] I feel like dressing casual and days when I feel like dressing semi-formal.
“I love wearing dresses and skirts but can also slay with loose pants and loose clothes. I dress based on the crowd I’ll be in and my mood as well.”
Here are just some of the winning fits (and captions) we spotted on Sheillyn’s feed:
1. “Spice, Baby”
A pumpkin-spice-latte-inspired plaid skirt takes centerstage. That skinny scarf around Sheillyn’s neck adds a little extra without throwing off the whole look. When mixing prints—in this case plaid plus polka dots—stick to the same hue.
2. “Making Their Stare Worthwhile”
This white dress screams quiet luxury, showing some skin while keeping it sophisticated. Sheillyn doesn’t overwhelm the look with too many accessories. Just a little sparkle from a tennis bracelet and a matching necklace will do.
3. “Tree-Mendous Views”
Wear a skort and get the best of both worlds. Sheillyn mixes comfort and style by pairing a skort with a smocked top and finishes off this weekend-in-Tagaytay look with a pair of Nike Air Force 1 PLT.AF.ORM.
4. “Golden”
Sheillyn serves another all-vanilla look and it’s once again far from boring. The peach-fuzz cardigan breaks the monotone. You’d think it’s only for air-conditioned classrooms and malls, but you can bring it on your next beach trip and use it as a coverup.
5. “No Strawberries, Just Lettuces”
Sheillyn makes a preppy look work for a trip to a farm. Put on a sweater vest over a fitted long-sleeved top for added warmth and style. A classic pair of all-white sneakers keeps the fit from looking too prim and proper.
6. “Be Kind to Yourself”
A practical way to create new fits is to mix and match tops and skirts. Make sure you have an assortment in your closet. Like Sheillyn, you can stick to a palette of, say, warm colors and play with textures for some visual interest. For this fit, she combines shiny and matte.
7. “Pinkin’ of You”
Sheillyn channels Barbie in this head-to-toe pink fit. When you’re not taking a dip, don a pair of wide-leg pants in the same shade as your bikini for a monochrome look that will stand out on the shore or by the pool.
8. “Pixie Wishes Only”
The easiest way to look effortlessly stylish is to make a statement in a dress. Just throw it on, maybe wear a string of pearls, and you’re good to go. Sheillyn picked a midi dress with a whimsical print and some ruffles for a little magic.
