The Congress emphasised the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and the metaverse in diagnosing and treating diseases. It also established a comprehensive database to support healthcare professionals in making effective clinical decisions and enable researchers to conduct fruitful medical studies.

The remarkable attendance at the conference underscores the success of the Emirates Family Medicine Society Congress in solidifying its position as a significant annual event for the healthcare sector in the UAE and the region.

Held in Dubai, the conference witnessed a notable presence of leading figures in healthcare entities from the UAE, GCC countries, and the Middle East, along with experts, physicians, and stakeholders in the healthcare and family medicine sectors.

Throughout its three-day duration, the conference hosted a series of extensive dialogues and discussions that spoke of the importance of disease prevention as the first line of defence. It also addressed the role of advanced technologies such as AI and meta-verse in disease diagnosis and the development of personalised treatment plans for each patient.

The conference highlighted the importance of these technologies in diagnosing and treating chronic diseases, especially diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, breast cancer, and others. It emphasised their ability to gather patient data to establish a comprehensive database that serves as a reference for healthcare practitioners, enabling them to predict diseases before they occur and avoid complications.

It also supports researchers in conducting fruitful medical studies, citing the technological advancements’ ability to identify patients at the pre-diabetes stage and develop necessary preventive plans to protect them from the disease.

Additionally, the conference stressed the need to establish awareness programmes that provide the community with reliable information on ways to prevent diseases through correct lifestyle choices. It also discussed the role of regular check-ups by family physicians in preventing many diseases, diagnosing other diseases early, enhancing treatment efficiency, and protecting patients from disease exacerbation and complications.

Dr. Wadeia Al Sharif, President of the Emirates Family Medicine Society, expressed pride in the conference’s remarkable success and said, “The 7th Emirates Family Medicine Society Congress 2024 attracted a selection of experts, leaders, and stakeholders in the healthcare sector who engaged in constructive dialogues and shed light on the latest developments in family medicine and healthcare in general. The Emirates Family Medicine Society Congress 2024 continues to achieve remarkable success every year, as part of its commitment to advancing the healthcare sector in the UAE and the region.

This aligns with the country’s direction towards AI and digital medical services. The Ministry of Health and Prevention has developed a comprehensive plan to integrate artificial intelligence by 100 percent into medical services, in line with the UAE’s AI Strategy and the UAE Centennial 2071 to transform the healthcare field provided to patients.
