730 wildfires reported across Canada so far this year
I can say that to date there are 87 wildfires burning and six are burning out of control. Approximately 1.47 million hectares have been burned so far and right now wildfires are active in the following areas. So key areas of concern include BC Interior Northeastern BC which have high combustible material, Northern Alberta with several several small and out of control fires. Southern Northwest Territories are entering A drier period. Postdoc now. Despite these risks, air quality remains high nationwide. And also a rapid warming trend next week is expected to worsen conditions in these high risk areas, necessitating a close situational awareness and vigilant monitoring of weather patterns and regional reports. And as of today, the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Center, the Nashville fairness level remains at level 1. Despite the situation in Western Canada, we remain hopeful for other regions in the country now many areas have been fortunate to see heavy rain. If these weather patterns continue, other regions of Canada may not have the severe wildfire season that we had last year. However, that being said, thunderstorms can increase the risk of fire activity. So again, I urge all Canadians to to begin preparations.
