2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid Pickup to Start under $50,000

  • Pricing for the first ever Tacoma Hybrid is out; the pickup starts at $47,795 in TRD Sport guise.
  • The Hybrid Tacoma lineup starts with the TRD Sport and ranges up to the top-trim Trailhunter and TRD Pro models, starting at $64,395 and $65,395 respectively.
  • The upcharge for the more powerful hybrid models ranges from $3700 on the mid-trim Limited to $6900 for the entry TRD Sport.

You don’t need us to tell you that the arrival of the 2024 Tacoma, which marks the first full redesign for the truck in nearly 20 years, is exciting. In addition to the Tacoma’s redesign, 2024 also marks the first year Toyota will offer the truck with an available hybrid powertrain.

Higher-Cost Tacomas

Since the Hybrid Tacos come with Toyota’s more powerful i-Force Max powertrain, Toyota starts pricing for the hybrid model considerably higher than the standard gasoline version. The i-Force Max unit churns out a combined 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, while the nonhybrids generate 228 and 278 horsepower respectively.

The TRD Sport offers the cheapest entry to the model and starts at $47,795. That sticker marks the largest jump over non-hybrid models in the lineup, with the TRD Sport Hybrid starting $6900 above its gasoline twin.

2024 Toyota Tacoma Limited

The TRD Off-Road model appears to be the value play of the lineup, though it is $4800 more than the non-hybrid. With a $48,085 base price, the model comes with 17-inch wheels and adds a composite front skid plate for protection off-road. Stepping up to the hybrid Limited trim means a price that jumps to $57,295 ($3700 more than the nonhybrid), compensating for Toyota adding some interior niceties the lower trims lack.

The top of the lineup is where the real excitement surrounding the Tacoma is. That’s because the performance-focused and hybrid-only Trailhunter and TRD Pro models live at the top. Starting at $64,395 and $65,395 respectively, the Trailhunter and TRD Pro are considerably more expensive than the lower trims in the lineup.

2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro

Both models measure 2.0 inches taller and 3.0 inches wider than a four-wheel-drive SR5 crew-cab model. Each comes well armored with underbody cladding, features unique suspension, and rides on capable R/T tires. The extra cost is steep, but both models add a considerable amount of technology to warrant the jump.
