Tesla has once again cut the price of its strong-selling Model Y electric SUV.
The range now begins at $60,900 before on-road costs for the Model Y rear-wheel drive (RWD), down $3000 on the sharper price announced just 19 days ago for Australia – and down $4500 on its price at the beginning of this month.
The Long Range AWD now costs $69,900 before on-roads, also down $3000 since the last update (and $8500 for the month), while the Performance AWD maintains its $82,900 sticker price.
2024 Tesla Model Y price cut again in Australia
Headlining the Tesla Model Y’s changes for 2024 are a new black ‘Gemini’ wheel cover design for the base and Long Range variants, plus three new optional exterior colours.
Australia will miss out on a majority of the updates to the Chinese-delivered Model Y – despite being built in the same Shanghai factory – such as greater driving range, RGB interior ambient lighting and a textile dashboard material.
A full update to the Tesla Model Y codenamed Juniper is reportedly due next year, bringing upgrades similar to the recent Model 3 Highland facelift.
If you order a Model Y today, Tesla says you can take delivery between April and June 2024.
The Tesla Model Y is the best-selling electric car in Australia to date, with 6835 delivered according to VFACTS data compiled by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI). It’s ahead of the Model 3 sedan.
