2 terrorists killed during an encounter in J&K’s Kulgam
NEW DELHI: The security forces on Tuesday recovered the bodies of 2 terrorists killed in the anti-terrorist operation in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
According to the officials, the encounter broke out after the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Kulgam’s redwani area late on Monday after they were tipped of about the presence of terrorists in the area.
Sharing the information on X, the Jammu and Kashmir zone police said, “Bodies of 02 #terrorists killed in the anti-terrorist operation recovered so far. Identity & affiliation being ascertained. #Operation in progress. Further details shall follow.”
The search operation escalated into an encounter, which was ongoing at the time of the last reports. During the exchange of fire between the terrorists and security forces, the house where the terrorists were hiding caught fire on Tuesday morning.
“The identity and group affiliation of the slain ultras can be revealed only after the bodies are retrieved,” he added.
According to a senior police officer, “at least two bodies were seen at the encounter site and efforts are on to retrieve those.” The officer added that the identities and affiliations of the slain terrorists can only be determined once the bodies are recovered.
