15 year old Miles Russell impressed the entire golfing world this week with his performance on the Corn Fairy Tour in his debut at the Lee Com Suncoast Classic in Lakewood Ranch, FL, and he’s going to get another opportunity to play on the path to the PGA Tour. I’m Ryan Baloghi with Golf News Net and Miles Russell was in the field this week because he is the world number one boy on the American Junior Golf Association ranking. He won three times last year, including two of their biggest events, the Junior PGA Championship and Junior Players. And he was competing this week, got as a somewhat local kid who plays out of Atlantic Beach, and he had a great showing for himself this week. He became the youngest player in the history of the Korn Ferry Tour to make the cut, doing so just over 15 years old. And then on Sunday posted his 2nd, 66th of the week to finish tied for 20th in the final standings of the Lee Com Suncoast Classic. So for him, it’s a great opportunity to have showcased his game, but he also gets another opportunity. To do that on the Coin Fairy Tour players who finished in the top 25 in the prior tournament get into the next tournament if they are not otherwise already exempt. And as someone who made his Corn Fairy Tour debut this week and an amateur who cannot have membership until he is at least 18 years old, Russell fits in that category. So he earns a start in next week’s Vertex Banks Bank Championship in Arlington, TX. And he is going to go play in that tournament. So we will get another crack at seeing Miles Russell compete on the Korn Ferry Tour. And seeing what the left-handed teenager can do against some of the up and coming best players in the world.
