LUMUT: The face of Warrant Officer II Mohd Shahrizan Mohd Termizi, who was killed in the helicopter collision at the naval base in Lumut, was calm as if he was sleeping, said his father.
Shahrizan was among the three-man crew onboard the Eurocopter Fennec SN555, which collided with the AgustaWestland-AW139 and crashed during rehearsal for the Navy Day celebration on Tuesday (April 23).
The celebration had since been cancelled.
Pensioner Mohd Termizi Abdul Ghani, 68, said he could still recognise the face of his eldest son during identification at the naval base hospital.
“We went in twice to identify the body with my wife and other children,” he said, according to Sinar Harian.
Termizi said he had rushed to the naval base at around 10am upon hearing news of the incident.
“During the journey from Ipoh, I thought that the helicopter was involved in a light crash, and I prayed for everything to be well.
“But many people called me to tell me that Along (his son) is gone. I am willing (to accept his fate) because I know how high-risk his career was. I am proud that he has served his country,” he said.
