Ram Trucks Australia has recalled a single Ram 3500 for not being compliant with local emissions regulations.
The Australian recall covers a single Ram 3500, which was built in 2014 according to a global Ram vehicle identification number (VIN) checker.
“Due to a software issue, the engine control software requires updating for efficient engine emission performance,” Ram said in its recall notice.
“There is no safety hazard and the defect will not affect the performance of the vehicle. Vehicles may not be compliant with the ADR 80/03 – Emission Control for Heavy Vehicles.”
It’s unclear if this is related to Ram’s global recall of 630,000 pickups found to have been equipped with emissions defeat devices.
In January, US firm Cummins – which supplies the Ram 2500 and 3500’s 6.7-litre six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine – was fined US$1.675 billion (A$2.56bn) after it was found to have equipped approximately 630,000 examples of the pickups with emissions defeat devices between 2013 and 2019.
