A total of 270,206 people or 70,862 families in Davao Region were affected by inclement weather caused by a shear line as of Friday, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said in its latest bulletin.

Around 36,000 people were displaced from their homes, of which 14,921 people or 4,217 families were staying in evacuation centers, while 21,870 persons or 5,767 families were staying in other places.

The number of fatalities remained at seven, according to the OCD as of mid-Friday morning. Two people were also injured.

One house was reported damaged and power interruptions were also experienced in five areas.

Assistance worth P6,477,700 has been provided to the victims, according to the OCD.

In Monkayo, Davao de Oro, at least seven people were killed, an infant was critically injured, and four others were missing in a landslide.

The victims were holding a prayer worship inside a home at Purok 19, Pagasa in Barangay Mt. Diwata when the land gave way and buried them. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
