Terrence Romeo misses Game One due to a sprained ankle

TERRENCE Romeo was sidelined once again for San Miguel in the PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup, this time, due to a sprained left ankle.

Romeo missed Game One of the Beermen’s 92-90 win over Ginebra on Wednesday after playing for six consecutive games. He previously sat out four games during the eliminations due to a bone bruise.

“After nung practice namin, mahilig kasi ako mag-extra work. Gagawa ako ng mga drills ko tapos na-sprain ‘yung ankle ko. May tumunog ng konti,” said Romeo.

Romeo said he even went to shootaround to try if his ankle can hold up.

“Tinry ko mag-ice, nagpahinga ako ng two days, tinry ko pa rin sa warm-up kung kaya, hindi pa rin kaya,” said Romeo, who added he will have his ankle checked on Thursday.

San Miguel coach Jorge Gallent said Romeo is day-to-day and the team is not in a hurry to bring Romeo back.

“He felt something but he did it after practice,” said Gallent. “It really hurts daw. Kilala niyo naman si Terrence. If it really hurts, it really hurts. Terrence will play as hard as he can, but I guess now, it really hurts.

Romeo though said he thinks the latest injury isn’t as serious as the previous ones that kept him out for a lengthy period.

“Kapag inisip ko siya, ang dami ko na naging injury. Natutunan ko na isipin na mag-move forward. Hindi ‘yung setback ‘to o bad ito for me, lagi ko lang iniisip na may reason,” said Romeo.

“Good thing is sprain ito. Sa dami kong injury, eto ‘yung masasabi ko na malayo kumpara sa mga injury ko. I’ll do my best na mag-heal agad,” said Romeo.
