SA healthcare workers could operate without COVID vaccine

The state’s health bosses ready to make a big change to one of the last COVID vaccine rules. At the moment, because of the mandatory vaccination, all of our staff are vaccinated, but it may not stay that way with plans to phase out jabs for healthcare workers. So many people are vaccinated in our community and so many people have had COVID on a number of occasions as well, really changes the position in terms of looking at this policy again. Under the proposed changes, staff can refuse the jab, but only if they sign a declaration. Stating they understand the benefits of the vaccine and are prepared to forego them. Really signals our strong intention to to need to have a highly vaccinated. Workforce. It means the 245 permanent staff who were terminated could return to the workforce. This hasn’t been done from a sort of need to bring in that workforce. This has been done from a review of the evidence. SA Health will now consult with its 40,000 workers before any changes are made. But health authorities are suggesting if the COVID exemption is introduced. It could act as a trial for other vaccines. It may be that we consider in the future for people that don’t have a flu vaccine that they’ll need to sign a form authorities also urging S Australians to protect themselves ahead of the looming flu season. Nearly 2000 cases have already been recorded, a sharp rise compared to this time last year. Shannon MacDonald 9 News.
