The Bureau of Customs intercepted the shipment of P7.507 million worth of alleged shabu at the Port of Clark on January 3.
In a statement on Thursday, the BOC said the package was declared as a “shaft drive model” bound for New Zealand from Parañaque City.
The parcel was flagged as suspicious by the X-ray Inspection Project personnel and underwent K9 sniffing ang physical examination.
A total of 1,104 grams of white substance, later confirmed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to be shabu, was discovered.
Personnel from the Port of Clark were commended for the bust.
“[District Collector Austria] underscored that the Port of Clark will maintain stringent customs controls and vigilant law enforcement to combat illegal drug trafficking. The BOC under the stewardship of Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio vowed to remain vigilant and ensure that intensified security measures are put in place as part of the Bureau’s continuing enhanced anti-illegal drug smuggling campaign,” read the statement. — Jiselle Anne C.
