Zwei Platzverweise kosten Wacker Thun den Sieg

Es ist die zentrale Aktion des Spiels. Severin Kaiser wird lanciert und läuft aufs Thuner Tor zu. Jonas Dähler, Wackers Co-Captain, stellt sich ihm in den Weg: ungestüm, unüberlegt, ja unfair. Und weil derlei Verstösse deutlich strenger sanktioniert werden als vor ein paar Jahren, sieht der Linkshänder der Berner Oberländer Rot. 9:8 führen die Gäste zu diesem Zeitpunkt gegen Otmar, Dähler erzielte drei Treffer und war der beste Mann auf dem Platz. Die Aktion und ihre Folgen aber ändern die Kräfteverhältnisse vorübergehend komplett. 13:9 führen die St. Galler vier Minuten später, auch weil Wacker in Unterzahl spielen musste.

Keeper Wick überzeugt

Die Thuner schaffen den Anschluss zwar noch vor der Pause, sie gleichen aus und gewinnen beim 27:27 immerhin einen Punkt. Doch sie müssen sich den Vorwurf gefallen lassen, sich selber um einen ihrer raren Siege in der Ostschweiz gebracht zu haben. In der zweiten Hälfte wurde mit Yannick Schwab ein zweiter Leistungsträger im Team Remo Badertschers vom Platz gestellt. Die Berner Oberländer waren ziemlich offensichtlich die stärkere Mannschaft an jenem Abend, bestätigten den ausgezeichneten Eindruck, den sie am Sonntag gegen Suhr hinterlassen hatten. Ein Punkt ist insofern einer zu wenig.

Dass kein Erfolg resultierte, ist auch, aber gewiss nicht nur auf Dählers Unbeherrschtheit zurückzuführen. Topskorer Lukas von Deschwanden erwischte einen schlechten Tag, ähnlich wie Keeper Marc Winkler, der Flavio Wick weichen musste, welcher exzellent hielt und neben dem elffachen Torschützen Nicolas Suter bester Thuner war.

Drei Punkte vereint Wacker nach drei Partien. Das ist ein ordentlicher Auftakt nach zwei schwierigen Saisons.
