Gut zwei Jahre nach dem aufsehenerregenden Juwelendiebstahl aus dem Grünen Gewölbe in Dresden hat am dortigen Landgericht ein Prozess gegen sechs mutmassliche Täter begonnen.

Die 22- bis 28-jährigen Männer waren bei mehreren Razzien in Berlin gefasst worden, sie sind wegen schweren Bandendiebstahls, Brandstiftung und besonders schwerer Brandstiftung angeklagt. Die Ermittler sind überzeugt, dass der Einbruch auf das Konto krimineller Mitglieder eines bekannten Berliner Clans geht.

Zwei Beschuldigte waren zur Tatzeit 20 Jahre alt – verhandelt wird deshalb vor der Grossen Jugendkammer in Dresden. Aus Sicherheitsgründen verhandelt das Landgericht in einem eigens für Terror- und Extremismusverfahren geschaffenen Spezialsaal am Stadtrand. Zum Auftakt herrschte grosser Medienandrang, die Polizei war mit einem Grossaufgebot rund um das Areal im Einsatz.

Die Verlesung der Anklage dauerte rund 20 Minuten. Sie listete unter anderem auf, wie akribisch sich die Beschuldigten auf den Coup vorbereitet hatten. Dazu spähten sie mehrfach den späteren Tatort aus und entfernten vor dem Einbruch in das Museum auch einen Teil des gusseisernen Gitters, das sie anschliessend mit Klebematerial wieder einfügten.

Auf diese Weise wollten sie am 25. November 2019 – dem Tag des Einbruchs – schneller in das Gebäude eindringen, hiess es. Zudem waren die mutmasslichen Täter laut Anklageschrift bewaffnet. Demnach hatten sie einen Revolver und einer Pistole mit Schalldämpfer dabei.

Die Staatsanwaltschaft wirft den sechs jungen Männern vor, für den Einbruch ins Dresdner Residenzschloss verantwortlich zu sein. Sie sollen dabei 21 Schmuckstücke mit insgesamt 4300 Diamanten und Brillanten im Gesamtwert von über 113 Millionen Euro entwendet und im Zuge des spektakulären Coups auch Sachschäden in Höhe von über einer Million Euro hinterlassen haben. Der Anklage zufolge hatten sie auch einen Stromkasten in Schlossnähe sowie ein Fluchtauto in der Tiefgarage eines Wohnhauses angezündet.

Zwei Männer drangen demnach am frühen Morgen durch das präparierte Fenster in das Gebäude in der Altstadt ein, schlugen mit einer Axt Löcher in eine Vitrine und rissen befestigte Schmuckstücke aus dem 17. und 18. Jahrhundert heraus. Die Angeklagten stammen laut Staatsanwaltschaft alle aus einer arabischstämmigen Berliner Grossfamilie und sind Deutsche.

Vier von ihnen sitzen in Untersuchungshaft, zwei verbüssen noch eine Jugendstrafe wegen des ebenfalls spektakulären Diebstahls einer riesigen Goldmünze aus dem Berliner Bode-Museum 2017. Die Angeklagten – Brüder oder Cousins – haben sich laut Staatsanwaltschaft bisher nicht zu den Vorwürfen geäussert.

Die Kammer hat sich beim Prozess auf Monate eingestellt und bis Ende Oktober 50 Verhandlungstage terminiert – Fortsetzung möglich. Die Hauptakte zu dem Fall umfasst 65 Bände, und auch wegen der Zahl der Verfahrensbeteiligten ist es ein besonderer Prozess: 14 Verteidiger – Anwälte aus Dresden, Leipzig, Berlin, Hannover und Hamburg -, drei Staatsanwälte, Vertreter der Jugendgerichtshilfe und Dutzende Zeugen.

DNA-Spuren aus Autos und vom Tatort, Videos, Daten und Zeugenaussagen stützen der Staatsanwaltschaft zufolge den ermittelten Ablauf der Tat. Die Arbeit der Sonderkommission «Epaulette», benannt nach einem der Beutestücke, geht unterdessen weiter. Gegen weitere 40 Beschuldigte, darunter vier Wachmänner sowie vier mögliche Helfer der Täter, gibt es demnach einen begründeten Anfangsverdacht.

Die Generaldirektorin der Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden (SKD), Marion Ackermann, geht derweil nicht davon aus, dass der gestohlene Schmuck aus dem Grünen Gewölbe weiterverkauft werden kann. «Weltweit sind die Stücke bekannt gemacht worden», und eigentlich unverkäuflich, sagte sie am Freitag dem Radiosender Bayern 2. Sie hoffe, dass durch den nun beginnenden Prozess die Aufmerksamkeit gesteigert werde. «Und dass es dadurch noch unmöglicher gemacht wird, dass es wirklich zu einem Transfer kommt.»
