Zeno Debast, vu par son papa : "Il doit encore grandement progresser dans ce domaine"

Zeno Debast dispute probablement ses derniers matchs avec Anderlecht. Un autre Sporting lui fait signe : Lisbonne. Le défenseur central va renflouer les caisses anderlechtoises, mais aimerait surtout s’en aller sur un titre. Et selon son père, il détient lui-même les clés du destin.

Zeno Debast a parcouru un long chemin, depuis ses débuts en équipe première il y a trois ans. “Généralement à Anderlecht, les jeunes joueurs qui arrivent en équipe première intègrent une équipe expérimentée au palmarès bien rempli. Ce n’était pas le cas lorsque Zeno est arrivé”, lance son papa, Raf, dans les colonnes de Het Laatste Nieuws.

“Il suffit de penser à Lukaku, Tielemans, Praet dans un passé récent, mais aussi à Célestine Babayaro ou Stéphane Demol dans le passé. Il y a trois ans, ce sont les jeunes joueurs qui portaient l’équipe et qui devaient presque tout faire. Ce ne sont pas les meilleures circonstances pour commencer une carrière. Félicitations à tous ces jeunes, et pas seulement à Zeno, qui se sont intégrés en équipe A.”

Le gros axe de progression de Zeno Debast

Durant ces trois saisons, Zeno Debast n’a pas inscrit le moindre but. Une lacune sur son CV. “Il a fait beaucoup de progrès défensivement. Dans les jeux de position, dans les duels aériens. Pour ça, la présence de Jan Vertonghen à côté de lui l’aide énormément.”

“Mais je regarde aussi les joueurs devant et derrière lui. Schmeichel, Delaney, Hazard, Rits. Ce sont tous des joueurs qui ont vécu beaucoup de choses et qui ont beaucoup d’expérience. Ils jouent un rôle important dans le développement de Zeno.”

Et selon papa Debast, Zeno a encore un gros axe de perfectionnement. “En termes de statistiques, il peut encore progresser. Espérons qu’il réussisse à marquer pendant ces Play-Offs. Il doit devenir plus décisif. Cela peut se faire avec un but sur phase arrêtée, mais aussi sur action posée, en venant de la deuxième ligne” a conclu Raf Debast.
