Joselu set to leave Real Madrid -report

Real Madrid will not be exercising their purchase option on veteran striker Joselu Mato, according to a report from COPE journalist Miguel Angel Diaz. The striker is the one who made that decision, which comes despite a successful loan spell for Joselu, who scored 18 goals in limited appearances for the club.

However, with the high-profile signings of Kylian Mbappé and Endrick, Joselu reportedly understands the limited playing time he would face next season. He has opted to seek a new opportunity elsewhere.

COPE’s report suggests Joselu could be headed to Saudi Arabia, but a return to Espanyol, who recently secured promotion back to La Liga, is also a possibility.

Joselu arrived at Real Madrid on loan at the start of the 2023/24 season. His most impactful moments came off the bench, with two crucial goals against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals preventing Real Madrid’s elimination.
