Harry Kane vows to 'keep trying to push himself' in his bid to finally end his trophy drought - but 'Bayern Munich insiders fear England ace is carrying burden of lack of silverware'

England talisman Harry Kane is still to win the first senior trophy of his career The 30-year-old agonisingly missed out during his first season at Bayern MunichLISTEN to It's All Kicking Off! 'The Luke Shaw call by Gareth Southgate has been an absolute stinker! It was another mistake and left England so lopsided

Harry Kane has vowed to continue pushing himself as he bids to finally end his trophy drought - but Bayern Munich insiders are reportedly concerned the striker is carrying the burden of an agonising first season in the Bundesliga.

Kane has been criticised for his performances in England's first two group games at Euro 2024 despite scoring the Three Lions' only goal in their draw with Denmark.

Pundits have ripped into the striker for failing to stretch defences and question marks were also raised over his fitness after he was forced out of the Champions League semi-final defeat by Real Madrid and sat out the final two league fixtures.

The 30-year-old joined Bayern from Tottenham in a deal worth £100million last summer and was widely expected to lift his maiden trophy at the Allianz Arena.

However, Bayern missed out on the Bundesliga title for the first time in 12 seasons, crashed out of the German Cup to third division side Saarbrucken, lost in the German Super Cup and were eliminated in the Champions League last-four.

Kane looked to insist he had moved on from the scarring end to the campaign but insiders, according to The Telegraph, believe he is continuing to carry the burden.

Asked about his bid to win silverware ahead of the Three Lions' game against Serbia, Kane said: 'I am extremely proud of what I have achieved in my career so far, but I also know that, of course, I want to have trophies to show for it.

'I feel like I'm in a real peak in my career and, hopefully, for the next four or five years especially that will be the case. So there's going to be opportunities, starting this summer and then again next year with Bayern Munich.

'So I think the most important thing for me is that I don't lose motivation and I keep trying to push myself and push the people around me.'

On his trophyless season with Bayern, Kane added: 'The season as a whole didn't go the way I wanted it to or the team wanted it to.

'I think whenever you have a tough loss or go out in a competition like that, for sure, there is a real hunger and desire that burns inside to make sure that the next time you get there or the next big competition, you have a different outcome.

'That's the way I always look at it. There is always a chance to get better.

'Leaving that game away in Madrid [2-1 defeat to the eventual winners], of course it hurt for a while but then you move on, you come away with the boys and your motivation is now onto the next one. For sure, there is a real hunger for that.'

According to The Sun, Kane gathered England's squad together for a crisis meeting after their draw with Denmark to allow players to air their frustrations.

It is believed that none of the coaching staff were invited to the summit with only players allowed to partake in the discussions at the Three Lions' team HQ.

Kane is one of several members of a leadership group picked by Gareth Southgate.
