Portugal secured safe passage through to the knockout stages at Euro 2024 after maintaining their 100 per cent winning start in Saturday's 3-0 win over Turkey.

Cristiano Ronaldo led Portugal to a comfortable win over Group F's toughest opponents but was unable to get on the scoresheet as his wait for a first goal in the competition drags on.

The 39-year-old looked set to open his account when through on goal in the second half but unselfishly squared the ball to Man United captain Bruno Fernandes for Portugal's third.

It was a dominant performance from Roberto Martinez's Portugal squad as they navigated their way through the tricky encounter with relative ease and now look set to top their group.

TURKEY (4-2-3-1)

Altay Bayindir (4)

Only one moment he will be remembered for as he was undone by Samet Akaydin’s backpass for the own goal. Bayindir came in for Mert Gunok who had a knee problem and in fairness, was good on the ball before that shocker.

Zeki Celik (5)

One of four Turkish changes as Vincenzo Montella opted to go for a more athletic outfit. Played a great ball to Kerem Akturkoglu early on when the game was still goalless. Booked for dissent.

Samet Akaydin (3)

Will go down in history for his no-look own goal. A catastrophic moment that simply won’t be forgotten. Booked shortly after to rub salt into the wound and taken off in the 75th minute with a knock to cap off a shocker of a day.

Abdulkerim Bardakci (4)

Another one who was booked in the first half as the referee Felix Zwayer dished his cards out. Part of a Turkish backline that had a day to forget.

Ferdi Kadioglu (5)

Did what he could but struggled to cope with the brilliant Bernardo Silva.

Hakan Calhanoglu (6)

More touches than any other Turkish player and never stopped trying but simply wasn’t helped by his teammates.

Kaan Ayhan (5)

Regularly dropped back to form a back three but struggled to have much of a say in the game. Replaced for Ismail Yuksek just before the hour mark.

Yunus Akgun (4)

One of the four Turkish changes. Did nothing of note and made Montella’s decision to rest Arda Guler look even more silly than it did before the game. Replaced for Guler in the 70th minute.

Yunus Akgun was one of four changes for the match but did little to warrant another start in Turkey's next game

Orkun Kokcu (4)

Taken off at half-time for Yusuf Yazici as Montella tried to switch things up. Another one with a forgettable day at the office.

Kerem Akturkoglu (5)

One of four Turkish changes and had a golden opportunity to score in the first half, when the game was goalless but didn’t test the keeper. Showed good feet to come close again but was denied by Diogo Costa. Replaced by Kenan Yildiz just before the hour mark

Baris Alper Yilmaz (5)

Never looked close to scoring. Just 30 touches all game.

SUBSTITUTES

Yusuf Yazici (5) - Came on at half-time for Orkun Kokcu.

Ismail Yuksek (5) - Replaced Kaan Ayhan just before the hour mark.

Kenan Yildiz (5) - Came on for Kerem Akturkoglu just before the hour mark.

Merih Demiral (5) - Replaced Samet Akaydin in the 75th minute.

Arda Guler (5) - Only afforded 20 minutes despite his performance against Georgia. Must start against Czech Republic on Wednesday

MANAGER

Vincenzo Montella (4)

Questionably made four changes despite their win the other day and it didn’t work. His side were poor and rarely threatened going forward. He must start Arda Guler on Wednesday.

LISTEN: Why is Rice immune from criticism and do England have ANY chance of winning the Euros?

Made a smart stop to deny Akturkoglu in the first-half and on the whole, had a comfortable game. Can’t go wrong with a clean sheet.

Joao Cancelo (8)

A solid display down the right flank, combining brilliantly with Bernardo Silva throughout. The pair were too hot to handle. Played a lovely ball through to Cristiano Ronaldo for Portugal’s third.

Pepe (7)

41 years old. Yes, 41 years old. Actually scored the last time these two sides met in the Euros 16 years ago and put on a defensive clinic here. Made a huge tackle when the game was goalless and was a joy to watch throughout. Deservedly clapped off by all four stands.

Ruben Dias (7)

Unsurprisingly, more touches than anyone else. Was brilliant, as ever.

Nuno Mendes (8)

What a talent. Did brilliantly for the first goal, driving into the box and squaring the ball which eventually fell to Bernardo Silva. Such a force going up and down the left flank. Top player.

Joao Palhinha (6)

The one change for Portugal, coming in for Diogo Dalot. Did what he needed to do. Was booked before half-time and subsequently replaced by Roberto Martinez for Ruben Neves at the break, with Portugal two goals up.

Vitinha (7)

A tidy performance and a key cog for Portugal. Another one who did his job but was assisted by Turkey’s lack of quality in midfield. He will have tougher games this tournament for sure.

Bruno Fernandes (7)

Always looked threatening and was rewarded with a goal when Cristiano Ronaldo unselfishly squared to him in the second half.

Bernardo Silva (8)

Ran the game. Scorer of the first goal with a quite superb first-time finish on his left foot. Incredibly his first goal in a major tournament, in what was his 15th appearance.

Rafael Leao (5)

Such a talent and always offered a threat in the first half but his diving is inexcusable. Rightly booked by the referee and then taken off by Martinez at half-time for Pedro Neto. He will be suspended for Portugal’s last group game against Georgia.

Cristiano Ronaldo (7)

Was pictured sulking after he didn’t get the ball just before the own-goal went in. Credit to him for squaring the ball to Bruno Fernandes to get an assist, before waving his teammates over to celebrate with him at the corner flag, in true Ronaldo fashion.

Yet to score at the Euros here but perhaps deserves the most praise for his patience in dealing with the number of pitch invaders (at least five) who tried to get a selfie with him.

MANAGER: Roberto Martinez (7)

A performance that he will be delighted with. Was helped by Turkey’s shambolic defence but his side were excellent and look like genuine contenders to go all the way. Martinez is yet to lose a competitive game as Portugal manager.

SUBSTITUTES

Ruben Neves (6) - Came on at half-time for Joao Palhinha

Pedro Neto (6) - Replaced Rafael Leao at half-time.

Nelson Semedo (5) - Replaced Joao Cancelo in the 68th minute

Antonio Silva (5) - Came on for Pepe in the 83rd minute

Joao Neves (5) - On for Vitinha in the 88th minute.
