Christian Pulisic says it's time for the USA to 'prove ourselves' on the eve of the nation's first Copa America match against Bolivia

US men's national team forward Christian Pulisic believes that now is the time to show the world what they're made of as their Copa America campaign kicks off on Sunday.

The USMNT has been in Dallas preparing for their matchup against Bolivia - which will be held at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Pulisic, one of the more experienced members of the team, hopes that this first match sparks a deep run through the tournament.

'Now it's time to prove ourselves,' the winger told reporters Friday. 'I think we've learned a lot. We've put some good performances in the World Cup. We've shown people that, okay, this team can play.

'And now it's about not just putting in those performances, but finding a way to get results in the biggest matches. That's the next step for us.'

Pulisic has played in one Copa America before when the United States hosted 2016's Copa America Centenario.

But the roles have clearly changed since then - with Pulisic going from a substitute in 2016 to a leader nowadays.

'For me, it's really important to lead by just the way I conduct myself every single day in training, around the hotel, around the guys,' he said. 'Also what I do on the field, in the game and show them that way.

'And if you ask anyone, I'm not the most vocal person on or off the field at all. So when I need to say something, I hope that I have a voice that people will listen to.

'That's my goal. I don't say much. I try to just put my head down and work and work, and I hope that people around see that and that can have a domino effect on everyone.'

The United States will be carrying some form of stunted momentum going into the Copa America after they managed a strong showing against Brazil in a 1-1 draw in which Pulisic scored the American's lone goal. But that followed on from a 5-1 battering at the hands of Colombia.

But they will likely face either of those teams again in the knockout stages if the Americans come first or second in their group.

After Bolivia, the Americans will be tasked with dispatching Panama and Uruguay to solidify their spot in the group. If they win, they play the second best team in a group of Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, and Costa Rica.
