Red Sox reliever says incredible play vs. Blue Jays felt like a 'car wreck'

During the ninth inning of the Boston Red Sox's 7-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in the series finale on Wednesday, Red Sox reliever Chris Martin made an incredible defensive play that will surely be remembered as one of the best of the season.

After making the play, Martin was looked at by manager Alex Cora and the training staff, but he remained in the game. He spoke about how his condition postgame.

“I felt like maybe I got in a car wreck,” Martin said (via. MassLive). “I’d like to stay on my feet a couple games in a row. Would be nice. But got the out and it was a good win.”

This is the third great play that Martin has made while fielding his position this year, and all three have put him in some kind of danger.

That type of effort should give him some consideration for Gold Glove honors at the position.
