College World Series: SEC's stunning baseball dominance in one tweet

It’s up for debate whether the SEC owns college football. (We're biased and say they do.)

Where there can be no argument is college baseball. The SEC owns it completely.

So when the No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies take on the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers, the winner of the 2024 College World Series will be the fourth straight champion from the SEC, and now that the Oklahoma Sooners have joined the conference (along with the Texas Longhorns), it’s the fourth straight final between SEC schools. Yes, yes, with a major asterisk since the Sooners were in the Big 12 in 2022.

Even taking away Oklahoma that year, the SEC still dominates college baseball. The last non-SEC school to make the College World Series Championship Finals was the Michigan Wolverines in 2019. The Vanderbilt Commodores won that year.

After the 2020 College World Series was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mississippi Bulldogs beat the Commodores in 2021, the Ole Miss Rebels topped the Sooners in 2022, and the LSU Tigers outlasted the Florida Gators in 2023.

The last time an SEC team did not make the CWS finals? That would be in 2016 when the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers stunned the Arizona Wildcats.
