Adam Peaty opens up on his approach to life ahead of Paris Olympics

Yeah, when UBC said that you got the code for ballet. So I just wondered for you what, what is the ballet? I think for me, I think when you achieve what I've have in sport, you know, Olympic golds, world records, you know, that comes our cost, right? We all know that sport is extremely demanding. Anyone that goes through the seat or through this today or has their own personal cost. And I think now I look forward to Paris. I'm like, OK, what's the equation? We had to start that 12 months ago, about 14 months ago, because I think you all know that. I saw it in a place where I had to take a break from the sport and take a break from life really, because it's so demanding. And now I'm looking forward to Paris in a place where I put a really good qualifying time down with a few months still to improve from that point. I'm just really excited. And I think as a deep of a question, it is, I'm trying to make it relatable, but it's it's been enjoyable journey. I think balance. You've always got to have that enjoyment. And I think I'm definitely enjoying it, even though it's extremely tiring what we're trying to do at the moment. But it's good. I just had a follow up to that as well. Sorry, I was going to say so heading to Paris. Does it feel like a new you? So I wondered if the tattoo is that into the light, does that underline that maybe? I mean, I won't say a new you. I think we're continually learning as athletes and we're continually learning as people. I think sport is very relatable to, you know, just life because it's so, so tough and you have those tough moments in your life where you got to overcome them. It's the same sport. And I wouldn't say it's a new me. There's still that kind of deep chimp inside of me that gets the job done with a lot of anger. But it's also a new, a kind of a new side of me, which can almost process things a little bit more easily or consistently. And I've had a lot of help from various people to, to help me get to that place. But I wouldn't say it's a new me. I just, I just think it's a very, this person now is going to carry in for the rest of life. So the one I had in Tokyo or the one I had in Rio is not sustainable for the rest of your life because you can't have that approach for everything. Can you tell us about your ongoing mental battle between being the emotionally driven, even anger using swimmer that broke world records and the Super calm, peaceful swimmer opens her into the same heights this year? Picture that well, peaceful down the 1st 50, anger on the last fifty. Really, I think it's very hard to it's very hard to kind of pre empt what the mindset is going to have to be. That's why we prepare for 1000 scenarios to use one. So in the race, you know, we're all talking, you know, hopefully we qualify in a good lane and heats and we'll get to semi final and whatnot. Let's presume we're in the final, we've got a good lane. That mindset is going to have to be so, so particular to deal with the opponents. They're going to do what they're going to do. I can't control that. But to get the best out of myself, it's going to have to be peaceful, but it's also going to have to be an athlete that I've probably not been ever because we have to learn and grow. Every single games the sport changes, the way it's approach changes, the way it's perceived changes and the way we perform has to change. So I I don't have an answer right now, but my preparation is preparing me for almost anything.
