Sundowns, Pirates open doors for relegated Cape Town Spurs stars
Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates will open doors for relegated Cape Town Spurs stars when their loan deals expire on 30 June.
Luvuyo Phewa and Boitumelo Radiopane will not go down to the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Cape Town Spurs, at least for now.
Phewa is on a season-long loan deal from Sundowns while Radiopane was loaned from the Sea Robbers.
In fact, this was the second season that both Phewa and Radiopane were with the Urban Warriors.
The two attackers were instrumental in Spurs gaining promotion to the DStv Premiership via the play-offs.
Radiopane, though, was unfortunate as he suffered a long-term injury soon after Spurs’ first game in the top flight.
And he only came back from that injury in the latter stages of the season, but things were already going South for Spurs.
Now, their agent Mike Makaab has confirmed that the duo will return to their respective clubs – Phewa going back to Sundowns while Radiopane will head back to Pirates.

“The two players that we represent are actually loan players, that’s Boitumelo Radiopane and Luvuyo Phewa. They will return to their respective clubs,” confirmed Makaab on Gagasi FM.
“Vuyo to Mamelodi Sundowns and Radiopane back to Orlando Pirates,” he reiterated.
“We’re in the, let’s say fortunate position, that we have players at the club that we have to really concern ourselves about but it’s a sad day because the club has big heritage.
“I thought that they would’ve strengthened the team with a few more experienced players, early on and then give themselves more of a chance to retain their PSL status. Sadly, it wasn’t to be and they have to work hard now to get back into the top flight now,” concluded Makaab.
RADIOPANE AND PHEWA NOT USED BY SPURS?
With Radiopane injured for a long time the season, it’s not surprising that he’s only featured 11 times for Spurs this season while scoring just once.
Phewa, 24, was mostly used as a substitute by different coaches at Spurs, and that has amounted to 19 appearances and one goal for him.
