Highs of 26C possible this weekend before 'uncertain' turn

Highs of 26C possible across the country this weekend - before things take an "uncertain" turn next Wednesday.

Dubliners are waking up this morning to a cloudy start with some patches of rain, but they should die away leaving a dry afternoon. Temperatures are still set to hit 19C, albeit with some fresh winds cutting across the capital.

It will be a mostly dry night too, with temperatures dropping to about 7C. But things are set to take a big positive swing again starting Saturday, with really high temperatures possible on Sunday and Monday.

Weather Alerts Ireland wrote: "Temperatures will rise over the weekend with temperatures as high as 25C or even 26C locally." But the also sounded a warning for next midweek, adding: "More uncertainty about the weather from Tuesday onwards so we will be keeping an eye on the charts."

Met Eireann tends to agree, saying that the forecast looks "unsettled" from Wednesday on. Here is their full forecast for the next few days:

Sunny spells at first tomorrow, Saturday , turning cloudier through the morning with some patchy light rain or drizzle developing. Highest temperatures 17 to 19 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds.

Mainly dry Saturday night with clear spells and isolated light showers. Lowest temperatures 10 to 12 degrees in light westerly breezes.

Sunny spells on Sunday and staying mainly dry. Highest temperatures 18 to 23 degrees in mostly light southwesterly or variable breezes.

On Sunday night highest temperatures aren't expected to fall below 12 to 14 degrees and it will stay mainly dry.

A warm day on Monday with sunny spells. A few showers will likely develop in the afternoon. Highest temperatures 20 to 24 degrees generally in light southerly breezes.

Tuesday will be slightly cooler with temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees with light winds. There are likely to be some heavy showers, merging to longer spells of rain in the west.

The further outlook through the midweek period is for unsettled conditions with rain or showers at times and temperatures around normal for the time of year.
